Born and raised in Detroit (Denby grad. Go Tars!) , she’s been loving the rural life near the “Tip of the Thumb” of Michigan since 1970.

In addition to a degree from Northwood University in business administration, Kat is also a Certified Guerrilla Marketing Coach.

Working since age 14, her eclectic business and marketing background includes dairy farming, journalism, advertising sales for newspapers and Yellow Pages, hotel/restaurant management, writing, publishing, and speaking. She was an early adopter of computer technology and online opportunities, previously serving as a senior staff member for Mike Bayer Public Relations, a forum WizOP and the featured Business Coach for the Building Your Business forum on CompuServe/AOL.

She is an award-winning nonfiction author of 15 published books (aka Kathy Henderson) and most known for The Young Writer’s Guide to Getting Published (Writer’s Digest Books).

A few fun facts about Kat:

•  Served 7 years as a volunteer deputy on the Sanilac County Sheriff Posse, which included some training with the Detroit Mounted Police. She joined as the SCSP’s first female in its 20 year history, and its only female her first three years.
•  Is a multiple near-death survivor having been medically revived three times following complications after the birth of her first child.
•  And ambivert now, she grew up as an introvert.
•  Hobbies include reading, travel, geeky science and tech, and participating in community theater, both on and off stage.
